The Boat that Rocked: Questions

1) If you didn't know how much the film cost to make, how could you tell?

2) How can we tell the genre of the film? How does the film fulfil its purpose of the genre?

3) How is it targetted towards a) a US market? b) a UK market? (both production and distribution)

4) How can we tell it isn't a big-budget Hollywood film?

5) What do we think they spent the most money on, in terms of production?

6) How has the language changed over time? How is it similar/different? How does this draw in specific audiences?

7) Does the film have any qualities of a Hollywood Blockbuster?

8) What specific camerawork do they use for specific purposes? (eg. characters/setting etc)

9) Are there any well-known actors that tempt you to watch the film? Do they fulfil your expectations?

10) How does it appeal to younger audiences?

11) How does it appeal to both a mass and niche audience?

12) In what ways does it appeal to a) men b) women?

13) Does the production live up to the expectations of the distribution/advertising?

14) How does the music (production) help to sell (advertise) the film?

15) There was around 5hrs of footage for a 2 hour film. What does this tell you about the production?

16) How have they shown the demographics of the era? Does this not appeal to some? How have they tried to represent people?

17) How does the production appeal to modern audiences?
